Advisory & Representation

AfriOne as your standing representative: a single point of contact for family office matters, negotiation on significant purchases, relocation and second residence advisory, philanthropy and foundation setup, and oversight of business interests.

Overview

One office, acting solely in your interest

This practice is for principals whose affairs have outgrown any single advisor: families with holdings in several countries, entrepreneurs negotiating purchases where their name moves the price, and public figures who need matters handled without their involvement being visible. The model is a single point of contact, a senior partner who knows your whole position and acts only on your written mandate.

Every engagement begins with that mandate. It records what we are authorised to do, the limits we must not cross, and how and when we report. We work alongside your existing lawyers, bankers and accountants rather than replacing them; our role is to brief them properly, coordinate them toward your objective and hold them to account. Because we take no commissions from other advisors or counterparties, the advice you receive has only one paying client: you.

Discretion is a working method here, not a slogan. In negotiations we can act in our own name, so your identity stays out of the room until you choose to be known. In oversight work, honesty is the discipline: an entrepreneur in Dar es Salaam asked us to review a joint venture he had no time to supervise, and our first quarterly report showed distributions running well below the shareholder agreement. The matter was corrected through counsel within the quarter. That is what representation on mandate looks like: documented authority, coordinated professionals and reporting that tells you the truth.

01

Family Office Management

Most substantial families already have good advisors: lawyers in two or three countries, private bankers, accountants, property managers. What they lack is the person who coordinates them. Family office management gives you that person: a single senior point of contact at AfriOne who knows the whole picture, briefs each advisor properly, chases what is owed to you and consolidates everything into one view.

We do not replace your existing lawyers or bankers, and we take no commissions from them. We schedule and minute the reviews, maintain the family's document register, track deadlines across jurisdictions, and produce a consolidated quarterly report covering assets, obligations, open matters and decisions required. When the family needs a new advisor, we run the selection and negotiate the terms on your side of the table.

  • One senior contact coordinating all advisors
  • Existing lawyers and bankers retained, briefed and held to account
  • Consolidated quarterly reporting across all holdings
  • Document register and deadline tracking across jurisdictions
  • Advisor selection and fee negotiation when gaps appear
  • No commissions taken from third party advisors
02

Negotiation & Purchase Representation

Prices move when certain names enter the room. Under a written mandate, we negotiate significant purchases, property, businesses, aircraft, collections, in our name or yours, so the counterparty deals with a professional buyer rather than with your reputation. Your identity is shielded until you choose to be known, and in many transactions it is never disclosed at all.

A mandate sets your walk away terms before talks begin, and we hold to them; our negotiators have no attachment to the asset and no incentive to overpay. We manage offers, counteroffers and diligence access, coordinate your counsel on contract terms, and report to you after every session. You make the decisions. We conduct the conversation.

  • Written mandate setting price limits and terms
  • Negotiation in our name where discretion serves you
  • Client identity disclosed only when you choose
  • Coordination with your counsel on contracts
  • Written report after every negotiation session
03

Relocation & Second Residence Advisory

Second residence and relocation decisions mix immigration law, tax exposure, property, schooling and daily practicality, and the right answer differs by family. We advise on residence options across Europe, the Gulf and Africa, comparing them honestly against your circumstances, including the costs and obligations that promotional material leaves out. Where a programme does not suit you, we say so.

Once a direction is chosen, we act as the coordinating office. Immigration counsel in the destination jurisdiction handles the legal application; licensed tax advisors opine on the consequences before you commit; our real estate practice sources the residence; and our lifestyle team arranges schools, staff and the practical details of arrival. You deal with one team throughout, in English or French.

  • Honest comparison of residence options against your circumstances
  • Applications run by immigration counsel in each jurisdiction
  • Tax consequences reviewed by licensed advisors before commitment
  • Residence sourcing through our real estate practice
  • Schooling, staffing and arrival logistics coordinated
  • Single point of contact from decision to settled arrival

Philanthropy & Foundation Setup

Serious giving deserves the same rigour as serious investing. We help clients define what they want their giving to achieve, then structure the vehicle to match: a foundation, a donor advised arrangement or direct programme funding, established with legal and tax counsel in the appropriate jurisdiction and governed by documents that will outlast the founder.

After establishment, we support the running of it: board and governance calendars, grant agreements that state what the money is for and how results will be evidenced, diligence on recipient organisations, and honest annual reporting on what worked and what did not. Many of our clients give within Africa, and our offices on the continent verify programmes in person rather than by correspondence.

  • Mission definition before structure is chosen
  • Foundation setup with legal and tax counsel
  • Governance documents built to outlast the founder
  • Diligence on recipient organisations, verified in person
  • Grant agreements with evidence requirements
  • Honest annual reporting on outcomes
05

Business Interests Oversight

Owners of operating businesses and joint ventures often see only what management chooses to show them. Under this mandate, AfriOne acts as your independent eyes: we review management accounts against agreed indicators, attend board meetings as your representative or observer where you hold that right, and verify that distributions, related party dealings and shareholder terms are what the documents say they should be.

Reporting is written, scheduled and honest. If performance is deteriorating, if governance is loose, or if your minority position is being quietly diluted, the report says so plainly, with recommendations and options. Where deeper questions arise, we coordinate forensic accountants or counsel on your behalf. The purpose is simple: you see clearly, without managing daily, and you are never the last to know.

  • Independent review of management accounts
  • Board attendance as your representative or observer
  • Verification of distributions and related party dealings
  • Scheduled written reporting with plain conclusions
  • Early warning on governance and dilution risks
  • Coordination of forensic or legal review where needed
