Luxury Asset Acquisition

Sourcing, authentication and acquisition of significant physical assets: collector automobiles, yachts, private aircraft, fine art, watches, jewellery and rare collections, with every purchase verified, insured and documented before funds move.

Overview

Significant assets, acquired with discipline

This practice exists for clients who buy assets worth verifying: a collector automobile, a yacht, an aircraft, a painting, a watch, a cellar. The pleasure of ownership is yours. The diligence behind it is ours. Most of our clients come to us either because they are buying in a market they do not know intimately, or because they know it well enough to want a professional between themselves and the seller.

Every engagement follows the same shape. We take a written brief, search through marque dealers, the major auction houses, the great estates and private collections, and present a shortlist with our honest view of each candidate. Nothing is bought until it has been authenticated, its provenance and title checked, and its condition independently assessed. Funds move through escrow style arrangements so payment and ownership transfer together, and insurance is bound before the asset travels.

The work does not end at purchase. We handle shipping, customs and import into African countries, registration where the law requires it, and storage and maintenance afterwards, so the asset is usable and protected from day one. A client in Libreville recently asked us to source a 1960s grand tourer from a European collection. The inspection we commissioned found an undisclosed engine replacement, the price was renegotiated accordingly, and the car now sits registered, insured and correctly documented in his garage. That is the standard on every file.

01

Collector & Luxury Automobiles

We source collector and modern automobiles through marque dealers, established private collections and the major auction houses. Before any offer is made, the car is inspected by a specialist in that marque, its chassis and engine numbers are checked against factory records, and its ownership and service history are verified document by document. You receive a written condition and history report before deciding.

Once terms are agreed, funds move through escrow style arrangements so that payment and title transfer together. We then handle shipping, import duty, homologation where required, and registration in your country of use, whether that is Gabon, Cameroon, Tanzania, South Africa or elsewhere. Storage, insurance and a maintenance schedule are in place before the car arrives.

  • Pre-purchase inspection by marque specialists
  • Chassis, engine and ownership history verification
  • Auction representation with agreed bidding limits
  • Escrow style payment against transfer of title
  • Import, homologation and registration in country of use
  • Storage, insurance and maintenance programme

Yachts & Marine Craft

For purchase, we take a brief on how the vessel will actually be used, then shortlist from brokers, shipyards and private sellers. Every candidate goes through an independent condition survey and sea trial, and we run title, lien and registry checks so you know the vessel is unencumbered. For charter, we book only through operators whose vessels and crews we have vetted.

On completion we arrange the ownership structure and flag state registration with maritime counsel, recruit and contract crew, place hull and liability insurance, and secure berthing in your home port and for the season. You receive a single file covering title, survey, registry, insurance and crew contracts, and one point of contact for the life of the vessel.

  • Independent condition survey and sea trial
  • Title, lien and registry verification
  • Ownership structure and flag state registration
  • Crew recruitment, contracts and payroll administration
  • Berthing arrangements, home port and seasonal
  • Hull, machinery and liability insurance placement

Private Aviation

We begin with a mission analysis: routes flown, passengers carried, runway constraints and hours per year. That analysis determines whether charter, fractional ownership or full ownership serves you best, and we will tell you plainly if buying is the wrong answer. When purchase is right, aircraft are inspected at approved maintenance facilities and every logbook is reviewed before contract.

Transactions are structured with aviation counsel, with title and lien searches completed and closing funds held by recognised aviation escrow agents. We then manage registration and import into your country of operation, select and supervise a vetted management operator, and arrange crew, hangarage and insurance. You receive consolidated reporting on operating costs from the first month.

  • Mission analysis and aircraft comparison
  • Pre-purchase inspection at approved facilities
  • Title and lien searches with escrow closing
  • Registration and import into country of operation
  • Vetted operator selection and ongoing oversight
  • Crew, hangarage and insurance arrangements

Fine Art & Antiquities

We source works through the major auction houses, established galleries and private collections, and we represent you at auction under written instructions with agreed limits. Every work is researched before purchase: provenance traced as far as the record allows, title confirmed, and authenticity assessed by independent specialists rather than by the seller. A condition report is commissioned on each piece.

Settlement runs through escrow style arrangements so funds are released only against clear title and delivery terms. We then manage insured packing, shipping and customs clearance, including import into African countries where our offices handle clearance directly, and arrange installation, insurance valuation and cataloguing so the collection is documented from the first acquisition.

  • Provenance and title research on every work
  • Independent authentication and condition reports
  • Auction representation under written instructions
  • Escrow style settlement against clear title
  • Insured packing, shipping and customs clearance
  • Cataloguing and insurance valuations for the collection

Watches, Jewellery & Collectibles

For new pieces, we manage allocation requests at the major houses on your behalf, a process that rewards patience and a credible purchase history, both of which we bring. On the secondary market, we source through established dealers and auction, and nothing is purchased without full authentication: movement and case verification for watches, independent gemological certification for stones.

Private sales settle through escrow style arrangements, and significant pieces travel by insured specialist carriage, never by ordinary courier. We arrange vault storage where pieces are not worn daily, and we build a documented record of certificates, valuations and purchase papers for each piece, which protects both insurance cover and future resale value.

  • Allocation requests managed at the major houses
  • Secondary market sourcing with full authentication
  • Independent gemological certification of stones
  • Escrow style settlement for private sales
  • Insured specialist carriage and vault storage
  • Certificates, valuations and papers kept as one record

Wine & Rare Collections

We build cellars through the great estates, en primeur campaigns and reputable brokers, guided by what you drink and what you intend to hold. Provenance is the discipline here: we verify storage history and purchase trail before buying, because a bottle without a clean record is worth a fraction of one with it. The same standard applies to rare spirits, books, instruments and other collections we handle.

Purchases are stored in bond where that is efficient, shipped under insured temperature controlled carriage when they move, and recorded in a cellar register with current insurance valuations. Each year we review the collection with you: what has matured, what should be drunk, what could be sold, and what the coming campaigns offer.

  • Acquisition through the great estates and established brokers
  • En primeur allocations managed campaign by campaign
  • Provenance and storage history verified before purchase
  • Bonded storage and insured temperature controlled shipment
  • Cellar register with current insurance valuations
  • Annual review of holdings and coming campaigns

How an acquisition mandate begins

We act only under a written mandate that records what you are seeking, the budget, the diligence to be performed and our fee. From there, one partner team runs the search, the verification and the completion, and reports to you at each stage.

01

Initial consultation

A confidential conversation about the asset you have in mind, in person or by call, in English or French.

02

Scope and mandate letter

A written mandate setting out the brief, budget, diligence standards and fees before any search begins.

03

Dedicated partner team

One senior partner and a small team run the search through completion, delivery and documentation.
